SUMMER 2012

So, the new band, Hudson Hank is up and running. the album is finally finished and we're going to try and self release this bad boy by late summer, early fall! very exciting- will keep y'all updated. The band is:

yours truly: Vocals/flugelhorn
Dan Muhlenburg: Drums
Simon Kafka: Guitar
Jonbiliah Toscano: Bass
Rob Cookman: Keys

We had a very successful first show at Olive's in Nyack in June Co-hosted by our good friends at Alumni 2012. Hopefully we can post some live footage soon!

Other notable developments:

James Levy and the Blood Red Rose's (ft. Allison Pierce) record was released in February to fantastic reviews in the UK! I had the fantastic opportunity to arrange the strings, brass, and winds on this record! I also had the chance play the CD release show and a couple BBC performances on flugalhorn with James and Allison. It was a great time, to say the least! There has yet to be a date announced for a US release, but you can purchase the record HERE. also, check out their facebook: www.facebook.com/jameslevybrr

I've started work, with my good friends in TOURNAMENT, arranging some pretty epic shit for their next groundbreaking album. Look for some new textures soon. in the meantime, you can check out their older material HERE

So, on Friday, I head to Japan for a month to do the final leg of the Come Fly Away tour. So I'll see y'all in August.

Until then, check out HUDSON HANK and "Like" us on facebook!  www.facebook.com/hudsonhank

fall 2011

Glad we all survived the October snow! Anyway- some cool stuff going on- A record I worked on (strings and brass arrangements) last summer finally has a release date! James Levy & the Blood Red Rose ft. Allison Pierce will release their record, "Pray to be Free", February 6th on Heavenly Recordings in London. Here's a link to the press release where you can also sample some of the record! heavenly recordings.

My record is nearing completion over in London! It's been quite a process (2 years), but next week it'll be sent off for mastering at Abbey Road. It's sounding better than i could've imagined! And I owe it to everybody who helped put this thing together- I feel so fortunate to be surrounded by such incredible talent. Will update when we find a label, release date etc...

Enjoy the rest of fall! hopefully the snows will hold off a little longer.

spring turns to summer 2010

ahhh the warmth of summer is finally here! some exciting news:

Filmmaker/Songwriter/Musician/ "rennaisance man" Jordan Galland's sophomore release "Search Party" is finally here!!! Again, I was given the wonderful opportunity to arrange, collaborate, and record horn lines on all but one tune! A wonderful follow-up to his debut record "Airbrush", Jordan is no stranger to great reviews! The title track was Papermag's music video of the day this week.

Cock Lorge Band's "The Leading Role" keeps on raking in positive reviews making honorable mention in Robert Christgau's April Consumer Guide- "Five knowledgeable songs about the old in-out -- with a groove, such as it is, to match". pretty cool. Our buddies at Twilight Vision TV did a very funny interview with Cock. Check it:

UPCOMING:
I had the privilege of recording a few tracks for James Levy's new project "blood red rose" at electric lady studios here in NYC. It was a pleasure getting to work with an incredible group of musical minds. Having the opportunity to preview many of the tracks, I can assert this will be one of those "timeless" records in any collection.

Still working on my solo release which will now be titled "In the Company of Others". We're still working on the orchestral arrangements. The plan is to finish recording this summer, and throw together a promotional demo, before releasing the full length. I would like to personally thank Simon Kafka, Dan Muhlenburg, and Tony Maimone for their incredible work and faith in this project. I'll start to leak some of the mastery achieved on these sessions on my myspace in the coming months.

Best Regards,

Sammy

Fall part 1

Fall has arrived, and there is much to smile about! The summer long anticipation of the Thank Cock it's Friday series at Piano's (158 ludlow, L.E.S.), has begun! 1st Friday of every month.

Friday Nov. 6th Cock Lorge Band will release their much anticipated new album, The Leading Role at TCIF. Produced and arranged by yours truly! Co-produced with Tony Maimone and Cock Lorge, mixed and engineered at Studio G in W'burg. For a Sneak Peak, the record is streaming for a limited time @ www.cocklorge.com

Currently writing and demoing tracks for my new project, Good Sam. Slated to record early January with Tony Maimone @ Studio G.

Wrote, arranged and performed (yes it's my voice) a cover of an Eels tune, "That Look You Give That Guy". Kevin Rankin shot and edited this silly film of us getting drunk and silly at my apartment in queens. He did an outstanding job. His work can be found @ http://www.TwilightVisionTV.Com/
